CHURCH HILL – Ella Mae Joan Hensley, 79, left this Earth on Thursday, July 5, 2018 into the arms of her Savior.

She was born on December 13, 1938 to the late George & Alice Larkins & lived in Church Hill her entire life. She married the love of her life, James Hensley, on June 30, 1954. Joan was a former member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church & had attended Morning Star Baptist Church until her illness. She loved the Lord & had accepted Him as her savior at a young age in spite of her battle of cancer. She always displayed her solid faith & trust in her Lord.

Other than her parents & husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lou Hamilton; & two nieces, Lisa & Tammy.

Joan is survived by her two sons & their wives, Ronald Wayne (Donna) Hensley & James Michael (Michelle) Hensley; five grandsons, Scott (Megan) Hensley, Gregg Hensley, Tyler (Amanda) Hensley, Josh (Stephanie) Hensley, & Alex Hensley; step grand-daughter, Brittani; 5 great grandsons, 2 great granddaughters, & 1 great grandchild due in January; sisters, Reta McClellan & Barbara Ann Meade.

Visitation hours will be from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with her grandson Tyler Hensley officiating. Music will be provided by Amanda & Stephanie. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 9 at Larkins Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM to go in procession.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Hensley, Josh Hensley, Alex Hensley, Scott Hensley, Gregg Hensley, Ron Shoates, Larry Lawson, & Jeff Parson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Joan’s memory.
