CHURCH HILL – James Donald “DJ” Bays, 38, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Comcare.

DJ was born in Kingsport but lived most of his life in the Comcare community. He loved playing with his ball, clapping his hands, music, and eating chocolate.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Davidson; maternal grandparents, Herbert H. & Ruth Davidson; paternal Manuel Pete & Geneva Bays.

DJ is survived by his aunt, Matilda “Til” Davidson; uncles, Herbert “Herbie” Davidson (Mary Sue), David Davidson (Savannah), Ronald Davidson, Rick Davidson (Eileen), & Clifford Davidson (Kathy); half-brother, David H. Hickman (Teresa); half-sisters, Doneva Bays, Donna Dougherty, & Danielle Calhoun; father, Donnie Bays; special nephews, Tyler & Mason Hickman; several cousins & many dear friends.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Neil Easley officiating. The burial will follow to Valley View Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Comcare at a later date.

Pallbearers will be family & friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff of Comcare.

Memorial contribution may be given to Valley View Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or charity of your choice.

A special thank you to the staff at Comcare, special caregivers Angie, Priscilla, & Joe, Tammy, Maria, Sarah, Brittany, Mary, Andrea, & Michael, & Amedisys Hospice for all the loving care & compassion shown to DJ.
