Mary Elizabeth (Dykes) Housewright 2 Timothy 4:7…I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. CHURCH HILL- Mary Elizabeth (Dykes) Housewright, 81, passed away on Monday (December 17, 2012) at Holston Valley Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and a member New Hope Baptist Church. Ms. Housewright was a loving mother and grandmother with a great heart. She was always there to help guide everybody. Mary worked as a cook at Nell’s restaurant and Bev’s restaurant. She gave her all until her last breath. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wiley Housewright, parents, Carson and Lurlie Dykes, brothers; Lester and Chester Dykes, brothers, Leroy and L.C. Dykes, half brother, Chester Dykes, sisters; Rosella Faulk and Emily Mullins, and grandson, Kevin Christian. She is survived by her son, Miles David Hartgrove and his wife, Madonna, daughters; Caroyln Christian and her husband, Dean, Vickie Mullins, Christie Hawkins, and Terry Thompson, brothers; Leo, Jerry, and Randall Dykes, grandchildren; Wendy Barrett, Shane and Jeremy Barnabi, Tanner and Casey Hartgrove, Hope and Austin Hawkins, seven great grandchildren, special niece and nephew, Susan Carla Carson and Timmy Beverly. Calling hours are from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill. Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Riley Jones officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday at Elm Springs cemetery. Everyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 A.M. to go in procession. Pallbearers will be Shane and Jeremy Barnabi, Austin Hawkins, Stewart Gibson, Scotty Smith, Brian Beverly, Tanner Hartgrove, and Mason Beverly.
