SURGOINSVILLE – Ola Barton, 88, left this world on May 2, 2018 with family by her side at Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness.

Ola was born on April 7, 1930 to Ernest (E.R.) & Bertha Greer Mauk. Ola worked on the farm as a girl and young woman. Later, she enjoyed working at Alvis-Kilby in Church Hill helping customers and making many friends. She had a “green thumb” and always had beautiful flowers in and around her home. She deeply loved her two grandsons.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest (E.R.) & Bertha Mauk, husband Oscar Barton, sister Ruth Presley, and brothers, Shird, Bud, and Tilden Mauk.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Timothy (wife Kim) Barton & Phillip Barton, two grandsons, Adam (wife Tonya) & Eric (wife Mindy) Barton, four grandchildren Taylor, Thomas, Wyatt, and Seth Barton, sisters Nava Jo Caldwell & Carolyn (Leo) Castiglioni and many extended family members.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Billy Ray Linkous officiating. Graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:45 AM. Pallbearers will be Adam Barton, Curtis Barton, Eric Barton, Scott Mauk, Tony Mauk, and Dennis Presley.

The family would like to give special thanks to Church Hill Rehabilitative Life Center for their wonderful care the last 3 ½ years, and to Holston Valley Medical Center for their care and services. Thank you to all who have been a part of Ola’s life in any way.
