William "Eckel" Ford CHURCH HILL- William “Eckel” Ford, 93, passed away on Saturday (April 6, 2013) at Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Ford proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired after 38 years at Tennessee Eastman and loved farming and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Zeppie Walters Ford, sisters, Lillie Jenkins and Grace Burchfield. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gladys Marie Ford, two daughters; Shirley McMillan and her husband, Archie, Wanda Jo Haynes and her husband, Tommy, brother and sister-in-law, Enoch and Mildred B. Ford, Mount Carmel; four grandchildren; Eric Morelock, Todd Morelock, Aaron Haynes, Tracey Baker and her husband, Todd, great grandchildren; Morgan and Devin Morelock, step grandson, Nick McMillan, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel . Services will be conducted Sunday at 7:00 P.M. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tommy Haynes officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be conducted by the Church Hill VFW Post # 9754 and Tennessee National Guard, Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those desiring to attend are asked to meet at the Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Pallbearers will be Eric Morelock, Aaron Haynes, Todd Baker, Jeff Robinette, Brad Grimm and Nick McMillan. Honorary bearers will be Willie Thacker and Johnny Chapman. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Holston Valley Medical Center and Hospice.
