CHURCH HILL – Daniel H. Dewald, Jr. age 89, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at the Church Hill Healthcare & Rehab following an extended illness.

Dan was born in Limestone, TN and had lived majority of his life in Church Hill. He was a member of the Old Union United Methodist Church. Served as Mayor and Alderman of Church Hill, served as Fire Chief of East Hawkins VFD, Mount Carmel VFD and Church Hill VFD.

Dan owned and operated several businesses in the community over the years, Church Hill Sinclair, Dan’s Mobile Homes, D & M Hardware and Mount Carmel Auto Parts.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife; Martha D. Dewald in 2004, his parents; Daniel H. Dewald, Sr. and Mary King Dewald, brother; Lester Dewald, sisters; Dorothy Eaton, Ruth Sutherland, Zona Taylor, Lois Keebler and Beulah Dewald.

Survivors include his daughter; Debbie Collins and husband, Todd, sons; Doug Dewald and Dennis Dewald and wife, Paula. Grandchildren; April Rogers, Brandon Rogers (fiancé, Melissa Davenport) and Erin Dewald, great grandchildren; Caleb Rogers and Elijah Rogers. Several other family members.

Calling hours are from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of his daughter Debbie Collins.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Regina Shelton officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Church Hill Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:15 AM Tuesday morning to go in procession to the cemetery.
