Doris Sarah Langley of Church Hill, Tennessee, age 95, died on February 11, 2022. Born in Philadelphia on September 12, 1926, to Duncan Daniel and Mable (Armstrong) Stewart, Doris graduated from Girls’ High School and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, and worked for many years as a caring R.N., which is how she met our father, her patient after a car crash. On February 3, 1951, she married John Langley; together they raised five children and enjoyed fifty years together in South Jersey and Lancaster County PA until after John’s death in 2001. She later moved to Tennessee to be close to her sons Daniel and Carl.

Doris will be remembered as an authentic Christian, a servant of the church, a loyal friend, a devoted wife, and mother (at times a mischievous mother), an adoring grandmother; one who despite many trials and challenges was always ready with a contagious laugh, always ready to spoil her grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, sister Jean DeJong, and son, Daniel. She is survived by her children Kenneth Langley (Jennifer) of Zion IL, Paul Langley (Terry)of Jacksonville Beach FL, Carl Langley (Linda) of Church Hill TN, Susan Schreiber (fiancé, Andy) Stevens PA; grandchildren: Rachael, Adam, Matthew, Holly, Michael, Karen, Rebecca, John, Jeff, Stephen, Justin; and sixteen great-grandchildren. She leaves behind two furry friends as well; Smokey and Stella, both of whom were a great comfort to her in her final months. Memorial service and interment will be at a date and location to be determined.
