KINGSPORT – Douglas Earl Mitchell, 62, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Doug was unique in his own way. He was loved by many, and he found love when he came into his families lives. He found children that loved him as his own, and to him, they were his own. He loved his grandchildren and his great grandchildren dearly. He worked for Teddy Gallaway Enterprises for several years. He was also the manager at Kingsport City Coin Laundry on Center Street.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Willett; parents, Earl Fugite Mitchell and Louise Senesa Akin.
Doug is survived by his wife, Gwenda Mitchell; children, Patricia Flores-Mejia (Joaquin), Rob Mayo, Sandy Mayo-Williams; 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, brothers, Roger Mitchell (Wanda) of Washington State; Dennis Mitchell of Kingsport,TN, Daniel Mitchell (Martha); several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 – 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.
