CHURCH HILL – Edna Ilene Sweeney Hatcher, 100, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 19, 2020.

Edna was born on July 3, 1919 in Chauncey, OH. She was a wonderful seamstress making most of her daughter’s clothing. She worked for Eastman in the lab, Holston Defense and retired from Belk. She was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Lawrence H. Hatcher; father, Emmett Sweeney; mother, Edith Sweeney; brother, Bob Sweeney and wife, Marie; sister, Hazel Hale and husband, Earl.

Edna is survived by her daughters, Margie Grimes and husband, Ron and Linda Skelton; grandchildren, Nick Skelton: Allison Hanna and husband, Jonathan; Matt Grimes and wife, Amanda; Heather Grimes; great grandchildren, Elijah, Annabelle, Ashlan, and Lillian; brothers-in-law, Glen Hatcher and wife, Helen; Gene Hatcher and wife, Melodye; Larry and Bill Hatcher; along with several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Due to the state restrictions of COVID-19, a private funeral service will be held at Liberty Hill Cemetery for the family at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 with Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 847 Church Hill, TN 37642.
