Mrs. C was like a second grandmother to me. From her sour dough bread to her tomato pie she always had something in the kitchen to offer us neighborhood kids. Growing up it was always as though hers and my Mamaw's grandkids were interchangeable at any point. Her door was always open and a smile always on her face. Her lawnmower was at the constant ready for any NASCAR circuit. Mrs. C was always full of energy and positivity that she seemed to spread to anyone she encountered. So much energy in fact that she put many of us youths to shame with her yardwork and the upkeep of her home. Though I'm sure things may feel dark for my "extended family" the world was made a brighter place for having been graced by Mrs. C's presence.

To Eileen's family. I am so sorry for your loss. Eileen was a dear friend. I met her while we were line dancing at the Senior Center in Churchill. There wasn't a dance she didn't know. We all knew 100 dances. May you now rest in peace now Eileen. We will miss you.

Mrs. Collins was my sweet librarian at Church Hill Elementary when I moved here in1989 from California. Her smiles and sweetheart made my transition to the South more easing. She was part of my childhood. I know she touched many lives.

Eileen and I have been friends since childhood. We are also distant cousins. We were in the same High School class; the 1948 class at the old Church Hill High school. We continued to see each other at our class reunions as our careers kept us separated through the years. Joan and extend our sympathy and prayers to all of Eileen’s family.
