Gary Charles Thacker Johnson Funeral Home Church Hill, TN Obituary Notice Kingsport, TN Gary Charles Thacker, age 70, of Kingsport passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Thacker was born in Roda, Virginia and had lived in Kingsport since 1967. He retired from the Eastman Chemical Company in 1986 with 18 years of service. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, and attended the Oak Glenn Missionary Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; Wiley “Joe” Thacker and Hester Kiser Thacker. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Julia “Judy” Larkins Thacker of the home. Son; Joey Thacker and wife Lisa, of Kingsport. Daughter; Loretta Crady and husband Chris of Qingdo, China. Grandchildren; Ethan Thacker, Michelle Simpson and Justin Simpson all of Kingsport. Brother; Terry Thacker and wife, Mildred of Kingsport. Several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home , and anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted 7 PM Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Mabe officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11 AM Wednesday at the Larkins Cemetery with Rev. Danny Sykes officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the Johnson Funeral Home at 10:15 AM Wednesday morning. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. David Franzus and his staff, and to the 5th floor ICU staff of the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center for thier wonderful care during Mr. Thacker’s illness.
