SURGOINSVILLE- Herbert Clinton Snyder, 94, went to be with the Lord on Monday (August 4, 2014) at his home. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific. He retired from the Mead Corporation in June, 1983 and was a lifetime farmer. Herbert was a member of the American Legion, Post 21. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert A. and Minnie (Setsor) Snyder, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Lucille (Kersey) Snyder of the home, sons, Gary Snyder, and friend, Debbie Parton of Rogersville, Larry Snyder and wife, Amy of Church Hill, daughter, Sara (Snyder) Jones and husband, Roscoe of Surgoinsville, grandchildren, Chris Snyder and wife, Sonia, Jason Snyder, Dustin Snyder, Jennifer Cassell and husband, Jeremy, Kayla Swift and husband, Chris, Chelsey Snyder, Cory Jones, Dylan Jones and Grant Snyder, four great grandchildren, Grayson, Celina, Dragan, and Braeleigh Snyder. Calling hours are from 2 to 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home of Church Hill. Graveside services with will be held following the visitation Thursday at Church Hill Memory Gardens with Military honors conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
