Phyllis Annie Winstead Tymon "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Psalm 116:15 Phyllis Annie Winstead Tymon, age 67, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 13, 2014 at her home in Church Hill. She was born July 19, 1946 in Rogersville to Jack and Blanche Winstead. She attended Rock Hill School and was a graduate of Rogersville High School and East Tennessee State University. She was a teacher in the Hawkins County School System, first at Church Hill Middle School and most recently at MT. Carmel Elementary, until her retirement. She was baptized at Meadowview Methodist Church and was for many years a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. Phyllis was a vibrant, talented and kind woman. She loved her students, more than that, she loved her family. They were her greatest source of joy and her grandchildren were her heart. She is greatly missed. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Blanche Charles Winstead, and a grandson, Gabriel Tymon. She is survived by her children, Angela Wilson and husband, David; April Stovall and husband, Wayne; Shane Tymon and wife Tracey; Stoney Tymon and wife Lizet; her grandchildren, Nate, Sam, Emma, Ben and Calvin Wilson; Abram and Titus Stovall; Seth Johnson; Jack, Charlotte and Willie Tymon; Mackenzie and Oliver Tymon; her brothers, Gerald Winstead and wife Carolyn; Tom Winstead and wife Linda; Jackie Winstead and wife Brenda; and her sister, Linda Winstead, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her friend Jim Dykes and his children Ashleah and Bo. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 PM Thursday at the Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel Rev. Dave Wilson officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11 AM Friday at the Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
