CHURCH HILL – Retha Ann Sams, 61, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, with her family by her side.
Retha was born in Sullivan Co. TN, in 1960. She was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. She was saved at young age and of the Baptist faith. Retha loved to color but spending time with her family was her passion and she loved them with all her heart.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Shelby Overbey Fugate; grandparents, Herman and Ruby Overbey; aunts, Barbara Cloud, and Reva Greer, cousin, Faye Rimer, as well as several other family members.
Retha is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Barnette; grandchildren, Austin Rhoton, Zane Johnson, and Ruben Johnson; father, Harrison Fugate, Jr.; lifelong friend, Norma Jean Bryant; cousin, Kay Rimer; as well as several aunt, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
