Ruth Mauk Ward CHURCH HILL- Ruth Mauk (Pud) Ward, 75, passed away on Wednesday (March 19, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Ward was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and working with her flowers. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee (Bud) Ward; her parents, John T. and Minnie Mowdy Mauk; brothers, Tom Mauk, Lloyd (Doc) Mauk, James (Tobe) Mauk, Cecil (Hotshot) Mauk, Bill Mauk and Jack Mauk; sisters, Athalea Minor, June Cooper, and Mary (Sook) Coach. Survivors include five daughters; Teresa Lane and husband, Sherman of Church Hill, Lisa Dishner and husband, Tim of Rogersville, Tracy Karen Ward of Church Hill, Amy Dishner and husband, Jerry of Church Hill, Mitzi Fortner and husband, Michael of Church Hill, two grandsons, Will Dishner and Austin Fortner, two granddaughters, Ashley Dishner Presley and Keshia Dishner, three great granddaughters; Caden Presley, Kira and Keatan Dishner, two sisters-in-law, Georgia Mauk and Delphia Mauk; two special nieces, Carolyn Hill and Brenda Gray, and several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Elizabeth Taylor. Calling hours are from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home and anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Greg Fletcher, Rev. Regina Shelton, and Brother Nathan Taylor officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Armstrong cemetery. Everyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:15 to go in procession. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
