SURGOINSVILLE – Stallard “Red” Parsons departed this earth on Thursday, September 26, 2019.

Red was born on May 8, 1941 to Coy and Pearl Parsons. At 16, he joined the U. S. Army serving in Germany. In 1961, he met and married the love of his life for 58 years, Mary Ruth. In 1974, he used the G.I. bill to go to Auto Body repair school.

Upon graduating, he opened his body shop and Red’s Used Cars. For the next 45 years, he enjoyed painting and repairing cars. His greatest achievement was 38 years ago when he gave his life to the Lord and became a child of the King. He loved to share his love of the Lord with everyone.

His family and friends will cherish his memory and will meet him at the throne.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Ruth Parsons; children, John Parsons (Maggie), Bobby Parsons (Karen), Mary Ann Snyder (Ben), and Susan Cradic (Billy); grandchildren, Matt Parsons, Dillon Parsons (Kayla), Amber Seals (Ian), Rachael Snyder, Jenny Johns (Cordell), Annie and Mason Parsons; the ones he loved seeing come in the door, his great grandkids, Isaiah Crowe, Coy and Kallie Seals, JT and Lilah Parsons; siblings, Betty Linville and Coy Parsons “Jr”.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Brother Truman Ferguson and Brother Danny Sykes officiating. A military graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 2 at Lafollettes Chapel Cemetery. Those wishing to go in procession are to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 AM or can meet at the cemetery by 10:45 AM.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and close friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Jones, Otis Eldridge, John Jones, Don Williams, Ronnie Duncan, George Barbour, Gordon Patterson and Dan Brown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hawkins County Color Guard.
