KINGSPORT – Barbara Lee (Trent) McDermott, 70, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday (October 28, 2014) at Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. Currently, a member at Oak Drive Church, she led the Oak Drive Ladies group, a Sunday school class and was a member of the choir. She also has many friends at Oak Grove Baptist were she was an active member for many years. Barbara was a very caring, devoted Christian and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Preceding her in death was her daughter, Tina Faith Trent, her parents, Raymond and Dorothy Williams, and Grandmother, Clara “Granny” McKinney. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth H. McDermott, her son, Chad Trent and his wife, Sherry and daughter, Olivia Ruth. Also by her daughter, Sara Lea Whitley, her husband, Eddie and their sons, Heath Bronson and Grant Alston. Additionally, the father of her children, Gerald Trent, her sister, Nita Kelly and husband Jim. Lastly, she is survived by Kenneth’s children, Kevin, Curtis, Bradley McDermott and Laura Edwards. Calling hours are from 12:00-2:00 pm Saturday at Johnson –Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Eddie Whitley, Sr. officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at Church Hill Memory Gardens following the funeral. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
