Local Artist “Poppy's Wife” Betty M.Winegar, who graced this earth from March 4th 1931 to April 30, 2016.on this day she triumphantly left this life to claim her eternal rewards and join the love of her life Thomas C. Winegar, whose hand and heart she had clung to since his death of Aug 2011. The joy bells of heaven rang once again as this beautiful couple parted by death in this world were rejoined in heaven for an eternity of praises for Jesus. Born in Washington County, TN to Charles H and Mary L Greer Ramey where where she lived her early years. Betty and Thomas C. Winegar were married July 17 1948 in Rogersville. Betty is a member of the New Fellowship Ministry church in Church Hill.Betty is known for her work for the Lord for serving in many capacities and working with Children. She sang alto for the Upward Way Quartet for many years and now has a new position in God’s heavenly choir. Betty loved art as she stepped in front of her canvas, she stepped into another world being inspired by God, who created this world, influenced Betty to paint it. There her emotions and experience flowed through the stroke of the paint brush. She was member of the Mooresville NC Guild, Kingsport Art Guild, Metropolitan Museum of Arts, New York and the National Museum for Women in Washington DC, which serves a home for some of her work.Betty was generous with her talent giving a helping hand to children as well others. Preceding her death, her husband of marriage of 63 years, Thomas C Winegar, her parents Charles and Mary Greer Ramey. Brother Harless Ramey and Granddaughter Tara Leigh Huff. Surviving are four children, Thomas Randall and wife Sue Winegar Church Hill, Jenny and husband Wes Carter Kingsport, Mary and husband Ron Gordon Kingsport, Carla and husband Randy Christian Church Hill. Sister Beulah and husband Dwight Lane. Brother Jack Ramey. Grandchildren Brandon Winegar, Thomas Jason (Michelle) Winegar , Sonny Gordon, Wesley (Kathy) Carter, Justin (Mimi) Carter. Chip (Jasemine) St Clair. . Cher (Kenny) Kitchings and Jennifer Garland. Great Grandchildren Blake, Levi, Stuart, Kenny, Lauren, and Marion Tara Carter. Cannon, Jack, and Miller St Clair. Nick (Heather) and Cody McCowan. Paige Garland. Tommy Winegar. Max and Sydney Kitchings. Great Great Grandchild Landon McCowan, several Nieces and Nephews. Betty is known by her family and friends for her life for the Lord Jesus and her sweet testimony. It is comfort for all to know she is with her husband in heaven’s choir singing for the Lord God. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 7:00 P.M. at Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Keith Snodgrass, Pastor Ron W Gordon officiating. Pastor JW Depew will be an honorary minister.Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Everyone wishing to attend is sked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 A.M. to go in procession.Pallbearers will be Wes Carter, Brandon Winegar, Jason Winegar, Sonny Gordon, Ronnie Everheart, Kenny Kitchings, Wayne Ramey, Dwight Lane, Randy Christian, Steve Lane,Johnny Gordon AND Jason Ramey.From the Family of Betty Winegar, we send a special thanks to Lloyd Price.
