Surgoinsville, TN – Delphia May Mauk, age 73, of Surgoinsville, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Holston Valley Hospital following an extended illness. Delphia was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County, she retired from the Church Hill Life Care Center and was of the Baptist faith.She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil “HotShot” Mauk in 1989, parents; Alexander and Nancy Smith Carey, brothers; Charles Carey and Arliss Carey, sisters; Margie Griffin and Pearl Carey.Survivors include her son; Shannon Mauk and wife, Christie of Surgoinsville, daughters; Lorrie Christian and husband, Paul of Surgoinsville, Debbie Herron and husband, Clarence of Surgoinsville, grandson; Seth Christian and wife, Danielle, great grandchildren; Tristan, Kaydan and Gavin Christian. Brother, Ed Carey of Johnson City, sisters; Lee Dykes of Surgoinsville, Marie Stidham of Nicklesville , Mary Dykes of Rogersville, special friend, Ervin Collings and several nieces and nephews.Calling hours are from 5 to 7 pm Saturday at the Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home and anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Greg Fletcher officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 2 pm Sunday at the Armstrong Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
