CHURCH HILL – Everett H. Rutledge, 86, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday (August 5, 2015) at Holston Velley Medical Center following a brief illness.Everett was born and lived his entire life in Hawkins County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Mead Corporation following 41 years of service. He was a member of Elm Springs United Methodist Church. Everett loved everything about farming and was thankful for the opportunity to work the land that God provided for him.He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Ethel Rutledge; sister, Reatha Jones; brothers, Henry, Dorman and Alvin Rutledge.He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Jo Mauk Rutledge; daughter, Theresa “Terry” Offield and husband, Ed; Son, Scott Rutledge and wife Cindy; grandchildren, Maria Offield and Mathew Rutledge; sister-in-law, Doris Rutledge; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home.Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mike Cutshaw officiating.Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Elm Springs Cemetery.
