J.R. Woods CHURCH HILL- J. R. Woods, 84, passed away on Tuesday (March 11, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and a member of Goshen Valley Free Will Baptist Church for over 50 years. Mr. Woods proudly served his country in the United States Army. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Dave Woods, brother, Vernon Woods, and brother-in-law, Jim Herron. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Susan Arnold Woods, sister, Ivanell Woods Herron, nephews; J.C. Herron and fiancé, Ellen Lane, Terry and Karen Herron, and Greg Smith, great nieces; Mindy and Jeff Hunley, Mallory and Stephen Hall, Josie Smith, great great niece, Annabella Hall, great great nephews; Kody Hunley and Jackson Hall, special friends, Angie Owens and her children, Jerrick and Jerricka Owens, and Ralph Marshall. Calling hours are from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Goshen Valley Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Goshen Valley Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. David Hale officiating. Graveside services with Military Honors conducted by the Hawkins Color Guard assisted by the Tennessee National Guard will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Johnny Arnold, Jack Arnold, Garland Arnold, Robert Barnette, Bobby Lane, and Phil Lane.
