CHURCH HILL – Jean Poe Gray, 92, passed away Sunday (July 10, 2016) at the Church Hill Life Care Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Gray was a lifelong resident of Church Hill and was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Church Hill where she sang in the choir for many years. Jean had served as a volunteer at Holston Valley Hospital and was also a member of the Church Hill Senior Citizens. Jean was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was loved by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles “C.D.” Gray in 1999, her parents, James and Neta Boyd Poe, two brothers, James Boyd Poe and Paul Marion Poe, three sisters, Frances Arnold, Ann Poe Morton and Betty Poe. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Ken Christian, Church Hill; Kim and John Shivell, Kingsport; 5 grandchildren, Jason Dobbs, Diana Price, Eric Dobbs, Susie Armstrong and Jessica Shivell; 10 great grandchildren, Evan Price, Aubree Armstrong, Brody Armstrong, Grayson Dobbs, Riley Dobbs, Sydney Dobbs, Delaney Price, Ayden Dobbs, Teegan Armstrong and Jace Jenkins; one brother, George Poe, Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.Special thanks to the staff of Church Hill Life Care and Rehab Center for the care given to our mother during her stay there. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of her daughter, Melissa Christian, 224 Christian Bend Road, Church Hill. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Josh Kilbourne officiating. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
