Luke 23:43: And Jesus said unto him, verily I say unto thee, today salt thou be with me in paradise.CHURCH HILL – Paul Tommy (Slick) Derrick, 80, of Church Hill, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday (May 29, 2015) at Indian Path Medical Center following an extended illness.Paul was born June 9, 1934 in Hawkins County and was saved in August 2011 at Freedom Baptist Church. He loved his family, his Church and his many friends and was never a stranger to anyone. He was a lifelong farmer, a retired truck driver and always ready to give advice.He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lola Ward Derrick; his children, Marie Meade and husband, Wayne; Harold Derrick and wife, Kathy; Mark Derrick and wife, Lisa; Donnie Derrick and wife, Dawn, all of Church Hill; grandchildren, Leslie Derrick, Brad Wilmoth, Michael Meade, Landon Pruitt, Emily and Tre Montgomery; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Gene Derrick and Carrol Jenkins; four sisters, Loraine Hess, Elizabeth Crawford, Helen Eaton and Minnie Matlock; several nieces and nephews.Calling hour are from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Freedom Baptist Church and anytime at the residence.Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Elm Springs Cemetery.
