Willie Joe Snapp, 78, went to be with his heavenly father on Monday, March 2nd at Holston Valley Hospital.Joe was a born again Christian who loved the Lord with his whole heart. Humbly accepting the call to preach the Gospel at the age of 65, he served as the associate pastor of his home church, McPheeters Bend Missionary Baptist Church, as well as a nursing home ministry before retiring due to failing health. Joe loved the outdoors and was a skilled heavy equipment and crane operator, retiring from American Mechanical Contractors in Sullivan Gardens.He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob” Snapp and Ruth Snapp Russell, two brothers, Carl Lee Snapp, infant brothern, Michael Joseph Snapp, grandson, Daniel Snapp.He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mattie Jane Snapp, Church Hill, two sons, David Randall Snapp, Bruce Lee Snapp and wife, Debbie, daughter, Tammy Ward and husband, James Ward, daughter in law, Pam Snapp, 5 grandchildren, Katy Snapp, Jennifer Blessing and husband, Daniel, Adam Snapp and wife, Jamie, Nathan Ward and fiancé, Ashley Cox, and Jessica Ward, 3 great grandchildren, Riley Snapp, Kaden Snapp, and Brooklyn Ward, brother, Lawrence Snapp and wife, Wilma, sisters, Betty Kincheloe and Judy Collins, several nieces and nephews. Joe is also survived by a much loved and devoted sister-in-law, Mary Rose Newland, who has shared our lived, trials, and joys in this journey of life.Calling hours are from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home or anytime at the residence, 1035 Goshen Valley Rd, Church Hill, TN.Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mark Roberts and Dr. Bobby Bernard officiating.Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday at McPheeters Bend Church cemetery.Pallbearers will be Adam Snapp, Nathan Ward, Matt Simpson, Ethan Roberts, Tyler Riner, and Daniel Blessing. Honorary bearers will be Mark Kincheloe, Jeff Smith, and James Ward.The family would like to express thanks to the nurses and staff of Wellmont Hospice for their tender loving care to Joe and his family during this difficult time, and also thanks to the entire staff at Church Hill Health Care and Rehab for the care and kindness shown to Joe and his family during the past year.
