Sylvia Mae Benton ROGERSVILLE – Sylvia Mae Benton, 91, passed away at her residence on Wednesday (April 30, 2014). She was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and a member of Van Hill Free Will Baptist Church for over 30 years. Mrs. Benton was a loving mother and grandmother who was kind and sweet to everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Benton, her parents, Thirlie and Bessie Webb, daughters, Judy Jones and Patsy Benton, sister, Opal Kuzma, and brothers, Kyle, Homer, James, and Donald Webb. She is survived by two sons, Roy and Paul Benton, five daughters, Gertie Lawson and her husband, Lonnie, Gladys Matthews, Shirley Coffey and her husband, Clarence, Linda Bishop and her husband, Tracy, Loretta Crawford and her husband, Charles, brother, Herman Webb, sister, Betty Morelock, 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home of Church Hill. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dave Morelock officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Mt. Carmel Church cemetery. Everyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks you to her friend and caregiver, Carolyn Glass and also to Amedysis Hospice.
