Tommy Mathews CHURCH HILL- Tommy Mathews, 74, passed away on Wednesday (January 8, 2014) at Church Hill Life Care Center following an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and attended Grassy Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Tommy enjoyed talking about the Grace of the Lord every chance he could. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Clydia Mowell Mathews, sisters, Susie Housewright and Blanche Ward, three brothers, Joe, Robert, and Gerald Mathews. He is survived by his sister, Annie Housewright, nieces, Connie Bartley, Norma Morelock, and Juanita Falin, nephews, Ricky Housewright and David Matthews. Calling hours are from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill and anytime at the home of his niece, Connie Bartley, 686 Old Union Road, Church Hill, TN. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Scalf officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Mowell Cemetery. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:15 to go in procession. Pallbearers will be Brian Bartley, Nick Ward, Ricky Housewright, Shane Falin, Jack Falin, and Brandon Morelock.
