KINGSPORT – Dennis Hutchens, 79, passed away into the presence of the Lord on Friday, January 19, 2018 in Charleston, SC after an extended illness. Mr. Hutchens was born in Hawkins County, TN. He lived most of his life in Kingsport, TN. Mr. Hutchens taught at Church Hill/Volunteer High School for 30 plus years, and was known as “Coach” by many beloved students. He was an avid photographer who was well known in the community. He enjoyed doing photography for many people in the area. He also worked part-time for Flavorich and Pet Dairy. He was a member of Fort Robinson Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles DeWolfe and Elsie Bell Brown Hutchens; step-mother Agnes Hutchens; and brother, Randall Hutchens Mr. Hutchens is survived by his daughter, Sheila Hutchens; brother, Glenn Donald Hutchens Sr. (Doris); along with several nieces and nephews, and his beloved pet, Buzzy. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home, Church Hill, Tennessee. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kevin Rose officiating. A private graveside service will be held at McKinney Cemetery, Rogersville, Tennessee on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.
