Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. KINGSPORT – Blanche Odell McLain, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018 at Holston Manor. She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan & Hawkins County. Blanche was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed the time she spent teaching the children in the Head Start Program. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. McLain; daughter, Shirley McLain; parents, William & Minnie Orrick Mitchell; and brother, Joe Mitchell. Blanche is survived by her daughters, Ileen Fletcher & Dorothy Summers (Lanny); sons, Jerry Allen McLain (Brenda), William T. McLain & Edward H. McLain (Joyce); 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ada, Verna, Vesta, Naomi & Lola (Wayne); several special nieces, nephews & cousins along with many special friends. Calling hours are from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jon Rogers & her son Bro. Ed McLain officiating. Burial will follow in Church Hill Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
