CHURCH HILL – James W. Watterson, 76, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. James was born in Virginia but was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. He was a member of Lyons Chapel A.M.E. Zion. James retired from working in construction. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Nelson and Mary Magdalene Watterson, sisters; Ethell Watterson & Blannie Skaggs, brothers; Joseph Watterson, Albert Watterson, Clyde Watterson, Billy Watterson, and Walter Watterson. James is survived by nieces Coretta Cooley (Kevin), Cotina Watterson, Cassandra Biggles (Kenneth), Candiace Ramierez and Barbara Skaggs, great nieces Kaitlyn Cooley, Lea Cooley, Ashley Biggles, Ariela Ramierez, great nephews Antonio Watterson, Alan Patterson, Joseph Patterson, Kenneth Jarell Biggles and a host of great-great nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held for 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Pam Hoard officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 16 at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM to go in procession. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
