CHURCH HILL- Kenneth Robert Bishop, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 7, 2020 at 4pm. He was joyously reunited in Heaven with his Mother and Father, Sister, baby brother and many other beloved departed relatives. Kenneth attended Church Hill High School and then Fall Branch High School graduating in 1961. He excelled in all sports at Fall Branch, starting basketball as a freshman he was team Captain and an All Washington County Basketball Player. Kenneth lettered in basketball, baseball , football and track all years. Kenneth was mentored at Fall Branch by the late coaching great Ralph Erwin. He was surrounded by loving families and friends while attending Fall Branch High School. Many have remained close all these years. He loved swapping notes from bygone days with friends including regional coaching great Dickie Warren who visited him often at Holston Manor. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He came to a point of Christian faith late in his adult life. He enjoyed sharing that faith. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Henrietta Arnold Bishop, Sister Linda James and baby brother Clayton Bishop. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Kim Grissom (Steve) and Renee Bishop Myers (Jeff); grandson, Allen Gentry; great grandchildren, Bryanna, Gage and Scotty; sisters, Betty Jane Skelton (late Tommy) and Judy Christian ( Kenneth); brothers, Gale Bishop and Rodney Bishop; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by faithful mother of his beloved daughters Delores Smith and Brother-in-law Bill James. Due to the state restrictions of COVID-19, a private funeral service will be held for the family on Monday, April 13, 2020 with Rev. Jerry and Ronda Webb whom are lifelong friends of Kenneth and family. Private family grave side service will be conducted by Brother Rodney Bishop on Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers are nephews Shane and Matthew Christian, Thomas Skelton, Bradley, Mark and Jordan Bishop. The family wants to extend a thank you to the personnel and friends at Holston Manor. Michael and family and friend who wanted to say her goodbyes while cutting his hair for the last time.
