CHURCH HILL – Ervin Louis Collings, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on January 23, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ervin was one of the last few members left of a great generation born in Abington, Virginia on April 8, 1938, to the late Wesley and Gladys Collings. Ervin was a loving and devoted father and Pa. He accepted Christ at an early age. Ervin attended Bell Ridge School and Lynn View School in Kingsport, Tennessee. He moved to Ohio in 1957, working from 1958 to 1991 for Ohio Rubber, 1992 to 1994 at Patys, and 1994 to 1999 at Builder’s Way (Builders First Source). In addition to his parents, Ervin is preceded in death by his son, Dennis; sisters, Kat, Evelyn, Ruby, Isabelle and Shirley; and brothers, Welford and Charles. Ervin is survived by his children, Donnie (Janine), Ronnie (Beth), Terry (Judi), John, Gene (Dawn), David (Donna), Keven (Tony), Karen (Paul), Luke, Lorrie, Debbie and Shannon; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cleo and Ilene; brother, Llyod (Judy); and several other extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a service to follow, at Johnson Arrowood Funeral Home in Church Hill, TN. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Holston View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 AM to go in procession. Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Brickey, Robert Clark, Wesley Weigel, Jerry Dishner, Seth Christian and Paul Christian. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Suncrest Hospice, Indian Path Cancer Center and the staff of W-3 at Holston Valley. |
