KINGSPORT – Franklin Eugene Lewis, Sr., age 79, of 1000 University Blvd. Kingsport, died Saturday, August 24, 1991 following a long illness. Mr. Lewis was a native of Wytheville, Virginia, but had lived in Kingsport for the past few years. Mr. Lewis was a Methodist minister and was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Catherine Lewis; 2 brothers, Walter and Kent Lewis. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virgie Stroupe Lewis of the home; 3 daughters, Mrs. James (Carol) Mauk, Kingsport, Mrs. Charles (Joyce) Thacker, Surgoinsville, Mrs. Fred (Darlene) Winstead, Kingsport; 1 son, Mr. Franklin E. Lewis, Jr., Lenoir, North Carolina; 3 sisters, Mrs. Ruth Blair, Mrs. Mona Akers, and Mrs. Leona Coleman, all of Wytheville, Va.; 1 brother, Mr. Willard Lewis, Wytheville, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday at the Jonson Funeral Home, and anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. John Ousley, Rev. Earl Miller, Rev. Bobby Lewis, Rev. Billy Akers, Rev. Ray Willis will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Hill Memory Gardens. |
