Gary Lee Loucks
21 August 1946 – 23 February 2023
It is with heavy hearts we convey the sudden passing of Gary Loucks on February 23. Gary grew up in East Huntingdon Township, Pennsylvania on a dairy farm and enlisted in the Army in 1966. He served in the infantry as radio operator during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. After his service, he acquired a BMW motorcycle dealership and operated the business for several years before accepting a position with Volkswagen. He retired from Volkswagen as a shift manager in 2004 and moved to Tennessee shortly thereafter. Gary joined the Agency in 2004 and worked through 2005, leaving to care for a family member. He returned in 2011 to provide dedicated service to the Region 4 angler survey program, gathering angler use information from several area reservoirs and rivers. Gary was an avid outdoor photographer with a passion for birds, especially eagles. He was actively involved in American Eagle Foundation projects and worked with staff to educate and promote raptor conservation. Gary enjoyed motorcycling the country and canoeing the waters of east Tennessee. Service arrangements will be forthcoming as they are finalized. Please join us in remembering Gary…he will be greatly missed.
