CHURCH HILL – Harlan F. Parvin, 83, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, July 2, 2023, after a brief illness. Harlan was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the United States Army. He had worked at Holston Defense/BAE for 33 years. Harlan loved to farm, working with his cattle and especially gardening. He loved to spend time with his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores “Tootsie” Mowell Parvin; parents, Henry George and Frances White Parvin; son, Harlan Parvin, Jr.; several brothers and sisters. Harlan is survived by his daughter, Robin Davidson; daughter-in law, Mary Parvin; special friends, Melissa Nelson and Daniel Jones; grandchildren, Benjamin Parvin, Matthew Parvin, Michael Jones, and Tracy Davidson; sister, Virgie Dykes; brother, David Parvin; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Mowell and Carolyn Manis (Carroll); and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Riley Jones officiating. The graveside service will follow at Mowell Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Denny Smith, James Smith, Ivan Smith, Jake Parvin, John Moncier, David Manis, and Terry Hunley.
