Jospeh Jeffery "Flop" Armstrong

SURGOINSVILLE – Joseph Jeffery “Flop” Armstrong, 65, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, following a brief illness.

Jeff was born in Kingsport, TN on December 11, 1957, to his parents, Joe and Marian Armstrong. He was a graduate of Surgoinsville High School and attended Lyons Chapel AME Zion Church for many years. Everyone knew him as “Flop” and he was well known in the community and a friend to all he knew and met. He worked as an operator for Lyons Construction. In his earlier years he enjoyed riding motorcycles, and always enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family. He was a loving son, brother, papaw and uncle.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Armstrong.

Flop is survived by his brothers, Dana “Sprout” Armstrong, and Nathan “Rooster”Armstrong; his girlfriend, Dovie Russell; several grandchildren; as well as many extended family members, and many dear friends.
A memorial service will he held at 5:30 PM on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home in Church Hill.
