Terry Lynn Birchfield, “Big Joe Terry”, “TP”, 65, of Johnson City, took his journey into heaven on Sunday, October 22, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born to the late Arnie and Mary (Miller) Birchfield on September 23, 1958, in Johnson City. In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Birchfield. Terry was a devoted Christian, he attended River of Life Church and Boones Creek Christian Community Church. He loved participating in the yearly Easter play and Vacation Bible School. Terry would talk about people and would pray for them in his nightly prayer. Working on lawnmowers was a big hobby of his. Terry also enjoyed traveling, watching westerns, going to Rod Runs, sitting on the front porch, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his three children, Lisa Armstrong and husband, Tyler, of Jonesborough, Micheal Birchfield and wife Lisa, of Jonesborough, Tina Beckett and husband Jordan, of Colonial Heights; granddaughter, Destiny Birchfield, of Jonesborough; extended family, Darlene and Roy Francis, Dennis and Lois Garst; siblings, Danny Birchfield and wife Janet, of Boones Creek, Connie Colbaugh and husband Rick, of Watauga, Teresa Holtsclaw, of Sullivan County, Vickie Fillers and husband Bryan, of Johnson City, Angela Dugger of Boones Creek; many nieces and nephews; along with special friends, Steve Hughes, Larry Spencer and Bill Overbay. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at River of Life Church 819 N. Austin Springs Rd. Piney Flats, TN from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Robert Williams and Pastor Donnie Humphrey officiating. Graveside Service will be Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Washington County Memory Gardens beginning at 11 a.m. Randy Henley, Eddie Garst, Danny Birchfield, Danny Fair, Brad Seitzinger and Wade McKinney will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Francis and Dennis Garst. The Birchfield family would like to extend a special thank you to Abbie Harris, all the staff at Tennessee Cancer Specialist, the staff at the Johnson City Medical Center, and Hillview Health and Rehabilitation Center for all the wonderful care given to Terry. |
