CHURCH HILL- Rev. James L. “Jim” Hill, 79, of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. He was a veteran of the US Army and after serving he came back home to Kingsport. On April 5, 1979, The Lord called him to minister. He pastored two churches as well as co pastored. For thirteen years Linda and Jim had a nursing home ministry before they married. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Elder Joseph L. Hill and Sally Anna Shupe Hill; brothers, Bill, Paul, and John; sister, Janet Bradshaw. He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Linda I. Allen, of the home; sister, Mary Lois Smith, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Justine Hill, Karen Hill, and Jean Lyons (Robert); brother-in-law, Perry Allen (Betty); step daughter, Pamela Clifton (Scott Gillespie); stepson, Wesley Harless; granddaughter, Angel Parks; step grandchildren, Kenadey Dowell (Christian), Emily Buchanan (Quentin), Connor Clifton (Portia), Dawson Clifton (Macy); great grandson, Elijah Parks; step great grandchildren, Savannah, Blair, Sophie, and Bristol Clifton, Elijah Dowell, and Avery Buchanan; special children in Jim’s life, Alana and Keegan Anderson, Violet and Henry Stapleton, Tra, Keena, and Seth Jones, and Jessica, Heather, and Valeria Defreece; as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and children from the churches. The family would like to thank all of those at Bristol Hospice House for the care and compassion that was shown to Jim, and the very special staff with Home Instead that cared for Jim in his time of need. A visitation will be held from 10:30-12:00 PM on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Randall Neece, and Bro. Cleve Hammonds officiating. A graveside will follow at 1:00 in procession to Mountain Home National Cemetery at 2:00 PM. The pallbearers will be family and friends.
