ROGERSVILLE – Helen Barker, 71, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born on September 2, 1952, in Hancock Co. on Newman’s Ridge. She was a member at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. She loved to flat foot, loved fishing, gardening, watching her WWE “wrastlin”, and westerns, and was a cornhole champion, but her grandkids and great grandbabies, Wrenley, and Tristan, were the loves of her life. She was known for her wonderful cooking, specifically her salmon patties, and her soup beans and cornbread. She loved to spend time with friends and family, and always had a story to tell. Helen is reunited in Heaven with her husband, Junior “Jr.” Barker; parents, Isaac and Pearlie Collins; siblings, Phillip Collins, Charles Collins, Alice Bunch, Maxine Fuller, Mattie Pearl Hipshire; son-in-law, Brad Depew; and her brothers-in-law, Glenn and Ronnie Barker. She is survived by her daughters, Loretta Lynn Barker Depew (Mark) and Crystal Gale Barker; Hurd; grandchildren, Brandon Depew (Malaya), Christian Hurd, and Christa Hurd; great grandchildren, Tristan, and Wrenley, siblings, Mary Bunch, Betty Jo Collins, Susie Hazelgrove sisters-in-law, Faye Collins, and Penny Barker Yates; special friends, Wanda King, Donna Cochrun, Doc and Brenda, the Davis Family, and the Helton Family; as well as many dear friends and extended family members. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Bradley officiating. Music will be provided by Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Bailey Cemetery on Poor Valley Road in Rogersville. Music will be provided by Travis Lawson. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:15 to go in procession. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Depew, Jeffery Coffey, Mark Cook, Paul Justice, Duke Barker, Scott Hurd, Wayne Collins, and David Barker. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Coffey, EJ Coffey, Tom Justice, Michael Fuller, Charles Collins, Marshall Wallen, and Marsh Davis. |
