CHURCH HILL – SSG (Retired) Clifford A. Crigger, 79, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness & courageous battle with cancer.

Clifford was born in Hawkins County, TN and lived most of his life in Church Hill, TN. He was called to preach the Gospel in 1975 & was actively still preaching until his health declined. Clifford was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Church Hill, TN. He attended faithfully until his health would not allow him to do so. Clifford worked at Chrysler Corporation in Dayton, OH until 1968 then went to work for Eastman Chemical Company where he retired in 1997. He served his country in US Army with 30 years before retiring. He was a veteran of Operation Desert Shield & Operation Desert Storm. He retired as a SSG in 1998.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Sue (Depew) Crigger; mother & father, George C. & Nannie G. Crigger; brother, Junior Crigger.

Clifford is survived by his sons, Dennis Crigger, wife Joy of Church Hill & David Crigger, wife Karen of Johnson City; grandchildren, CTT2 Juliana R. Crigger, of San Diego, CA serving in US Navy, Joel K. Crigger of Church Hill, TN, Casey A. Crigger of Clarksville, TN, & Alex Crigger of Knoxville, TN; sister, Evelyn Henderson; brothers, Gene Crigger, wife Helen of Surgoinsville, TN & Charles Edward Crigger, wife Linda of Surgoinsville, TN along with several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Robert Depew, Rev. Earnest Depew, & Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 23 at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 3/265 Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:45 AM.

Pallbearers will be Joel Crigger, Alex Crigger, Casey Crigger, James Reed, SSG Danny Melton, & Shannon Monroe.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church, 208 Maple Ave. Church Hill, TN or the charity of choice.

A special thanks to the Kingsport Hematology Oncology Center Kingsport, TN, Amedisys Home Health & Hospice, & special friend Pat Christian who helped make his last days more comfortable.
