Betty Jo Mitchell, age 80, of Church Hill, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Church Hill Health Care following an extended illness. Betty was a lifelong resident of Church Hill and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill. She was an LPN and had worked for the Holston Valley Medical Center for several years, and retired from the Kingsport Press with 35 years of service.She is preceded in death by her parents; George Edward Mitchell and Ollie Mae Bruner. Sisters; Mary Alice White, Lillie Mae Broome and Edna Louise Woodward, brothers; Robert Herman Mitchell and George Edward Mitchell, Jr., extended family, Bill and Ann Sindon, Mike Sindon, Sydney Allen.Survivors include her sisters; Hazel Grayce Bowlin and Helen Ruth Darnell and husband, J.C., extended family; Pat Stacy , Joe Sindon and several nieces and nephewsCalling hours are from 1 to 2 pm Thursday at the Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 2 pm Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Mitchell Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Church Hill, P.O.
