CHURCH HILL – Burl Gene Christian age 87 of Church Hill, TN went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 1, 2023. He was born February 27, 1936, to the late Millard Allen and Ida Belle Christian.
Gene is predeceased by a son, Rodney Lee Christian, four brothers Earl Christian, LeRoy Christian, Paul Christian, and Allen Christian; and one sister Emma Jean Herron.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Ruth Christian of 69 years, along with several nieces and nephews.
Gene retired from the Iron Workers Union after several years of service. He was a Legend of Post-Tensioning and a Member of the PTI Hall of Fame. His work allowed he and his wife to travel all over the United States. Gene loved to talk about his work and was proud to share many stories of projects he supervised which were numerous bridges, parking structures, stadiums, and high-rise buildings.
He was active in his community and heavily involved with the local McPheeters Bend Ruritan for many years. He was also a longtime member of the Hawkins County Industrial Board.
Gene’s wishes were to be cremated. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Old Union Cemetery in Church Hill, Tn.
