CHURCH HILL – Carroll A. Smith, 77, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020 at his residence with his family by his side after a 3-year battle of cancer.

Carroll was a lifelong resident of Hawkins county and was a member of McPheeters Bend Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company after 25 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchild. He loved his horses, cows, and farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Allie C. & Ada McLain Smith; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Margaret Benton; great grandson, Luke Arnold; brother-in-law, Haynes Jones; nephew, Terry Jones; great niece, Nichole Jones.

Carroll is survived by his loving wife of 56 ½ years, Edna Benton Smith; daughter, Kim Woods, fiancé Tim Turner; sons, Tony Smith (Karen) and Steven Smith (Rebecca); grandchildren, Jodi Williams (Corey), Julie Arnold (Evan), Christopher Smith (Megan), Savannah Kerstetter (Travis), Ben Smith (Whitney), Kevin Smith, girlfriend, Jackie Finley; great grandchild, his little darling Hadley Williams; sister, Mary Jones; aunts, Vesta Dobbs, Lola Henry (Wayne), and Omi Blevins; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Due to the state restrictions of COVID-19, a private funeral service will be held for the family on Thursday, April 9, 2020 with Minister Evan Arnold, Rev. Mark Roberts, and Rev. Heath Smith. To view the service live, please go to www.johnsonarrowood.com and click on his obituary page at 2:00 PM and it will be below the obituary. If you are not able to watch the service at 2:00 PM, the service will be uploaded by 9:00 AM on Friday, April 10. A private graveside will be held at McPheeters Bend Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Smith, Ben Smith, Kevin Smith, Corey Williams, Travis Kerstetter, and Jeff Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clayton Smith, Eugene Dobbs, Paul Houseright, Charles Dishner, Jr., and Greg Jones.
