I am so sorry to hear about Bro. Wallace. I met him at First Baptist Church after Hurricane Katrina when we evacuated to Church Hill. We became good friends and I enjoyed being in his company. It was such a pleasure to visit with him at his business and to see him at church. Even when I returned back to Louisiana I would keep in touch with him. My memories of you my brother will always be dear to me. Gonna certainly miss you. I am certain God will strengthen the family as He is faithful.

Simple put a Man of the Lord. Wallace through the many years I have known him at First Baptist Church, he was the person you could count on seeing every Sunday, and all other services. We spoke many times, and he always loved kids, and loved his family. So sorry he is no longer here with us, but I'm sure I'll see him again in Heaven. Your family remains in my prayers, Darline Webb

Loved the beautiful poetic words of Wallace's passing to be with His heavenly Father. My husband, Robert Gibson, Jr. better known as Junior grew up in the Alanthus Hill Community also. There were several students from those years who went on to become teachers, particularly math & science. Junior taught 32 years at Thomas Walker H.S. Neville Ann, I met you one time from August 1960- spring 1961. Hobart Owens (Wallace's uncle who had married Junior's Aunt Alice Gibson) was lying in state in their home. It was customary for neighbors & friends to "sit up all night" with the grieving family. Junior & Wallace decided to sit up with the family. After meeting you, I invited you to go home with me to spend the night. Junior & I had just married in Aug/1960 & , if I recall, I think you & Wallace were newly-weds also. We had good conversation that night & arose the next day to attend the funeral........Junior & I will celebrate our 62nd anniversary this Aug. God has blessed us with three children, five grandchildren, & three greats. .....May you and your extended family experience God's comfort & peace in the lonely days ahead.

I always admired & appreciated our neighbors Wallace & NevilleAnn. They are Salt of the earth, Godly people. A cousin who was lucky to have Wallace as Physics teacher at DB said he was the best teacher he ever had. Prayers for all the family in your loss. I know you have many wonderful memories to sustain you & can rejoice for his heavenly home.

I was totally hopeless in Algebra but Coach Owens sweated through it with me and his dedication to see me not only pass, but get a good grade, was relentless. He was better to me than I deserved. Later when I was obtaining my first nursing degree, I remember thinking that he would be proud of me because I’d finally grown into my math skills. I’ll always be grateful that he didn’t give up on me.
