CHURCH HILL – David Wayne “Dave” Rivers, 56, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at his residence.

Dave was born in the small town of Pennington Gap, VA to Dewey Wayne Rivers and Betty Lou Holman on May 8, 1963. He attended High School at Madison Central High School in Richmond, Kentucky. He was a dedicated and devoted employee for Hutchinson Sealing Systems for over 29 years.

If you knew Dave you knew how much he loved kids and every kid he met, he gave a gold dollar to. He never passed up a basket of hot wings no matter the time of day. Dave had an intensive love for his wife, children, and grandkids, he never missed an opportunity to be with them. He strived to giving them a better life then he had. Dave would have given the shirt off his back to anyone who would need it. He was far from a materialistic man with great values and a standup personality. Dave was a faithful member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club in Kingsport, TN as well as being the state President of the same club from 2016-2017.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lou King; brother, Dewey Wayne Rivers II.

David is survived by his loving wife, Mandy Cassandra Rivers; father, Dewey Wayne Rivers; sons, Joshua David Rivers (Jamie) and David Wayne Rivers II (Aimee), Wesley Allen Glennon Rivers; daughter, Anastasia Renae Rivers “Roonie”, Portia Danielle Clifton “Flop” (Connor), Mckinley Carol Caldwell “Keg”, and Emily Danica Rivers; 8 Grandchildren, Mia, Jakob, John Paul, Zoie, Bailey, Jaxon, Ayden, and Savannah “Goober”; brother, Earnest Rivers; sister, Misty Viles; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of many friends.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Pat Hood of LifePoint Baptist in Smyna, TN officiating. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, July 3 at Red Hill Cemetery in Pennington Gap, VA. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:15 PM.

Pallbearers will be David Rivers II, Joshua Rivers, Wesley Rivers, Connor Clifton, Gabriel Musick, Larry Hood, Earnie Rivers, and David Sexton.

The family wished to extend their gratitude to everyone who has called, messaged, and visited. To the food and meals prepared and all the donations from family, friends, and community. Dave was a one of a kind and never could be forgotten but is already missed tremendously.
