Sweetest lady that was very near and dear to my heart. So glad I got to be her nurse for a time. Love you Edith!

Edith was part my childhood growing up in the Lyons Park neighborhood. When I was 5 years old, I gave her a miniature tea set for her wedding anniversary and she still has it to this day. She said it was a treasured piece of her belongings and I have always appreciated her for that, having meant so much to her. My parents and I lived a block away, across the field and on another street, but Edith would always keep an eye on the house and knew when something was wrong if she hadn't seen us for awhile. While we didn't always get to talk face-to-face, I always knew Edith was there, and there was a certain comfort in that neighborhood familiarity. That is one of many reasons she will be missed. I pray that God will continue to Bless Roger and other members of Edith's family, and to comfort them in their grief. Any kindness that exists in the neighborhood just really won't be the same without Edith.

Words cannot express the sorrow for all of the family of this special lady. Roger was the Pastor of Midway Freewill Baptist Church when I was a child. They were there when I was saved, and Baptized. They treated all the children and young people of our church like family. Roger performed my husband's and my marriage ceremony. Over the years they've seen me and my family through loss and pain, though they had moved on to other churches. You both will always have a special place in my heart! Thank you for your love and I look forward to seeing you again. God's speed my friend.

Roger and family, I am sorry for your loss. My mother, Mary Kate Housewright Persinger Barbour, thought a lot of Edith. May God comfort and bless you all.
