ROGERSVILLE – Elvie Ruth Ward, 90, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at her residence.

She was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Cedar Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert Lee Ward; parents, Rev. Henry Ward and Goldie Mae Matthews; daughters, Kathy Carroll and Ellen Morelock.

Elvie is survived by her son, Joseph “Little Joe” Ward; daughter, Helen Sizemore; grandchildren, Christina Bradshaw, Jody Carroll, Scotty Littleton, Tracy Hensley, Marlina Burton; brother, Arliss Ward; sisters, Shelby McDavid and Vivian Simpson; several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends, Goldie Williamson and Linda Collier.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Reed Mitchell. Music will be provided the Gilliam Girls. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Benton Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 PM.

Pallbearers, Joe Lindsey, Doug Jones, Eugene Ward, Teddy Morelock, Ronnie Whitaker, Tommy Carroll, and Dillon Babb. Honorary pallbearer will be G.W. Ward.

A special thank you to all the caregivers who took a care of her.
