Ethel Lou Fansler CHURCH HILL- Ethel Lou Fansler, age 101, opened Heaven’s Gate on Monday (March 10, 2014) at Church Hill Health Care and Rehab center. She was born in Scott County, VA on May 23, 1912 to the late Floyd and Ebbie Buckles Johnson. She had lived in Hawkins County for the past 55 years. She loved all the animals, her garden, and flowers. Mamaw Fansler was always ready for an adventure in the woods with the children, from finding a special rock to a special flower and a funny tale to laugh at and remember. She loved all God’s animals and she took care of them with her pets. She was a very special Angel from Heaven that has gone home and will be greatly missed by all. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Fansler in 1987, daughter, Shirley Winegar, grandson, Wayne Crabtree, 7 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Crabtree, grandchildren; David and Diana Crabtree, Steve and Kim Crabtree, Brandon and Carolyn Crabtree, all of Gate City, VA, Jody and Betsy Winegar, Sandy and Greg Bellemy, Tina and David Manis, all of Hawkins County, 13 great grandchildren, special nephews; Arlis Johnson, John Johnson, several other nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 5 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home and anytime at the home of her daughter. Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kyle Falin, Jr. officiating. Music will be provided by Landon Bellemy. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Bethel Cemetery, Stanley Valley. Everyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 P.M. to go in procession. Pallbearers will be David, Steve, Brandon, Caleb, and Jacob Crabtree, Jody Winegar, Greg Bellemy, and David Manis. The family would like to thank the Staff of Church Hill Health Care ad Rehab.
