CHURCH HILL – Grady Dale Short, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2023, with his family by his side.
Grady was born in Church Hill, TN on January 18, 1936, to his parents Frank and Mary (Cavin) Short. He worked at Johnson and Hilliard for many years before retiring. Grady loved to be outdoors, and when he was able to, liked to put out a big garden. He was a wonderful man, and a loving husband and father.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Garber) Short; and his three brothers.
Grady is survived by his daughter, Caroline Short; sons, Ivan Short, and Brad Short; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses with Gentiva Hospice for the love and care given to Grady.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 PM on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family requested that memorial contributions be made to the Hawkins County Animal Shelter.
