CHURCH HILL – Harold Gwen Christian, 88, went home to be with his Savior on January 17, 2024.
Harold was born in Hawkins Co., TN, to Cecil and Edith (Bailey) Christian on October 19, 1935. He was a lifelong member of Christian Bend Baptist Church. He attended Church Hill High School and worked at Mason Dixon and Yellow Freight Lines. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing the guitar, and singing Gospel music. He sang in the Victory Quartet for many years, and he and his wife also enjoyed singing for residents in nursing homes and hospitals as volunteers. He also loved spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil, and Edith Christian; his stepmother, Lucille Christian; sisters, Joyce Christian, and Shelby Truman; brother, Demas Christian; and brothers-in-law, Curt Truman, and Dwayne Arnold.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Earline. She was his “Little Darling.”; sons, Daniel Christian, and Scott (Erin) Christian; daughters, Lora Merrill, Melissa (Shannon) Barrett, and Amy (Bobby) Vaughn; grandchildren, Shea (Matt) Buchman, Haley (David) Tuck, Allison Merrill, Frankie Merrill, Heather (Nick) Willson, Heath (Chelsey) Taylor, Derek (Alisha) Taylor, Connor Barrett, Michael Vaughn, Stephanie (Josh) Hensley, Kayla (Chris) Ward, Nikki Vaughn, and Anna Belle Christian, as well as 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda (Bill) Henard; brother, Anthony (Penny) Christian; sister-in-law, Freda Christian; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, January 22, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor John Cradic and Dr. Tony Crisp officiating. A graveside service will be held the following day at Christian Bend Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 pm to go in procession. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
