Church Hill – Helen Hurd Christian, age 87 of Church Hill, passed away Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Brookhaven Nursing Home following an extended illness. Helen was born in Hawkins County and had lived in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Indiana and Texas before retiring from Dillard’s Department Store before moving back to Church Hill in 2007. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill.She is preceded in death by her husband; William Baxter Christian, Jr. in 1981, parents; Dave & Ethel Bailey Hurd, brothers; Henry, Jack and Tom Hurd.Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law’s; Greg Christian and wife, Christy of Dallas, TX, Bill Christian III and wife, Sandi of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren; Noah, Micha, Samuel, Baxter, Harrison and Bennett, sisters; Jeanette Skelton and husband, James of Church Hill and Maxine Hurd of Church Hill.Calling hours are from 12 to 2 pm Sunday at the Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating. Burial will follow in the McPheeters Bend Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church building fund, P.O.
